QUESTION: Councillor E. Higgins

"To ask the Manager what is the current situation regarding housing lists and how many houses will be available in the Lucan Electoral Area for letting to applicants seeking homes?"

REPLY:

There are currently 7,696 applications on South Dublin County Council's Housing List.  Of these 4,371 have expressed interest in the housing area of 'North of the Naas Road' which includes the Lucan area.  At present the Council has one vacant dwelling in the Lucan Area, this is designated for Older Persons.  For 2010 to 2013 - 27 vacancies of Council stock in the Lucan Electoral area have occurred which were let to housing applicants, for the same period 60 applicants were housed in Lucan addresses through the ASH/Procurement programme.  On average for 2014, it is expected to have approximately 9 vacancies of Council Stock and 20 ASH/Procured properties for the area.
