MOTION NO. 20

MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

That the Manager writes to the owners of the 3 locations asking them if they would be willing to work with Clondalkin Tidy Towns in order to improve the look of each of the sites

  1. The 'Texaco' garage on the Monastery Road
  2. Lexington on the Monastery Road
  3. 'Nolans' house on the Old Nangor Road

and that the Manager confirms the status of whether they are derelict sites or not

REPORT:

The Council is statutorily obliged to enforce the provisions of the Derelict Sites Act l990 . 

The following is the position in relation to:

1. Former Esso Garage, Monastery Road:

This site was last inspected by the Assistant Engineer, Roads Department on the  29th January 20l3 when he reported that the site was considered to be non-derelict  within the definition contained in Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act l990.  Following  that report, contact was made with agents acting for ESSO, MSI  Limited, who undertook a number of remedial works to the site, including repairs to the damaged chainlink fence, secured  the  shutter to the front of the building, filled in/made good opening in the wall of the building, boarded up front door, elimination of graffiti and general tidying up of the site.    Additional improvements to the site were carried out in May 20l3 following which , agents acting on behalf of ESSO were advised SDCC had no further issues with the site.

2. Lexington, Monastery Road:

The site at Lexington House and lands, at the junction of Monastery Road and Monastery Park, Clondalkin was inspected by the Assistant Engineer, Roads Department on the 20th November 20l3 when he reported that the site is considered to be in a derelict condition within the definition contained in Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act l990. A Notice pursuant to Section 8 (2) of the Derelict Sites Act l990 has now been served on the Examiner appointed to SIAC Construction Limited.

3. 'Nolans' House, Old Nangor Road:

Raheen House (Nolan's) Old Nangor Road Clondalkin  has the benefit of a Grant of Planning Permission which issued in August 2011 , Register Reference  refers.   The property was subject to fire damage on two separate occasions in 20l3,  following which the owner was requested to carry out specified works at the request of the Council's Dangerous Buildings  Inspector . An ealry on-site meeting is to be convened with the owner of the property for purpose of agreeing scope of works to be carried out and timeframe within which they are required to be executed.
