MOTION NO. 16

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee requests the reinstatement of the fenced-off area of tree-planting between Droim na Coille and Larkfield estate?" Housing Jan'14  - This motion related to unauthorised works carried out to rear garden of council houses at Droim na Coille."

REPORT:

The area of land in question forms part of a thermal barrier of trees which were planted during the construction of  Droim na Coille estate.  It was fenced off to ensure the trees could establish themselves and were not interfered with in the early stages of growth.  At that time a number of representations were made by local representatives to remove the fence line but was refused for that reason. 

As the  trees have now fully established themselves it is proposed to permit the tenants to take the fence down provided they agreeto  protect the trees within their gardens and not to do anything that might damage them
