MOTION NO. 10

MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave

"The residents of Whitechurch estate have concerns that the new proposed Playground will attract anti-social behaviour. Could the Manager explain the process of community engagement with this project that will allay concerns to residents?"

REPORT:

A county wide process of consultation with local residents groups on the proposed Play Space programme will begin shortly and the times and dates for each will be communicated in advance to the Elected Members.  At the meetings it will be clearly explained both verbally and visually the design intent of the play spaces, the target group and how it is proposed to implement the programme.  There will also be time for local residents to ask questions and make suggestions.  The issue of possible anti social behaviour is one that arises with all new proposals and it is hoped that the discussion will allay any fears that the residents may have about this project.
