QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"To ask the Manager for an update report on the implementation of the 3.5  tonne restriction on Kennelsfort Road as per my motion at the December meeting and to include the time scale when it will become fully effective?"

REPLY:

The motion passed at the December Area CommitteeMeeting requires a change in the adopted Council Policy in relation to HGV weight restrictions. This policy was approved by the full Council in June 2013 following wide consultation across the County. The changes were approved by each area committee in September and have been implemented by the Council on the approval of the Garda Authorities. The Current weight restriction is 7.5 tonnes and any alterations to this arrangements will require an amendment to the adopted Council policy and will need to be brought to the full Council for approval. Alterations cannot be implemented until then. In the meantime the 7.5 tonne restriction applies.
