MOTION NO. 5
MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That the Council's Planning and Roads Department needs to begin to make plans for relieving traffic congestion at Stocking Lane and Ballycullen Road and Kilinney Road before these areas become chronically congested as before."
REPORT:
The road network from Killininny Road Ballycullen Road and Stocking Lane consists of two general lane roads with bus lanes along Ballycullen Road. Junctions are signal control or roundabouts. Pedestrian crossings are provided at strategic locations. These roads cater for local and regional traffic movements.
Significant congestion was experienced prior to the installation of signals in replacement of roundabouts as the roundabouts had become dominated by one approach and did not allow equitable traffic flow. These signals are demand responsive but also provide for pedestrian and cycle movements.
The matter will be examined further and report will be presented to the TMM.
