QUESTION NO. 5

QUESTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody

"To ask the Manager to investigate and report back on an ongoing issue concerning blocked drains adjacent to 30 Butterfield Avenue.  The owners report that they have cleared the drains on a number of occasions, with the report back that the source of the problem is on the road.  The drains were unblocked by the Council before Christmas however the Council's Supervisor suggested that the source of the blockage might not be at the road and therefore a resident issue as opposed to Council issue.  A definitive position is required and I would ask the Manager to provide the necessary direction to arrive at a solution to the problem.  Also Manager the Resident reported back on the efficiency of the Council & especially the Supervisor on dealing with the matter before Christmas?"

REPLY:

The Drainage Section are currently investigating the cause of the blockage at this location.  The drainage inspector will arrange a meeting with the owners in order to establish the location of the blockage and determine what actions are required to correct the problem and who is responsible for the works.
