MOTION NO.8
MOTION: Councillor M. Corr
That the Manager develops a programme in conjunction with our FAI Development officers that focuses on girls only schools within the county in order to increase the participation of girls in football and to celebrate the new home of Ireland's Senior Women's team in Tallaght Stadium
REPORT: The "Football in the Community Development Officers" deliver a wide range of programmes which are fully inclusive and always encourage young girls to participate and become actively engaged in the sports programmes. They are also involved in the delivery of the Soccer Sisters programme throughout the county – this specifically targets girls at primary school level. The programme will recommence in January 2014 building up to an Easter Soccer Sisters camp, this has in the past proven to be very successful. The Council will pursue with the FAI the possibility of a schools programme for girls as suggested.
