QUESTION NO.

QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

To ask the Manager for a report on illegal bonfires at Halloween in the Clondalkin LEA including the following information 

- the total number of illegal bonfires per year from 2010 to 2013 in the area covered by the North Clondalkin Community Safety Forum

- the total number of illegal bonfires per year from 2010 to 2013 in the area covered by the South West Clondalkin Community Safety Forum

 - the cost of the clean up operation arising from the bonfires from 2010 to 2013 in the Clondalkin LEA 

- the number of reports of illegal bonfire wood received by SDCC in advance of Halloween in 2012 and 2013 in the Clondalkin LEA 

- the number of these reports responded to and resulting in the removal of the bonfire wood before Halloween night in in the Clondalkin LEA 

- the number of these reports not responded to and not resulting in the removal of the bonfire wood before Halloween night in the Clondalkin LEA?

The cleanup costs and location of bonfires from 2010 to 2013 is detailed in the table below:

A breakdown of the number of bonfires per electoral district is not available pre 2012.

The number of illegal bonfires per year in the areas covered by the North Clondalkin Community Safety Forum and the South West Community Forum is not available.

The cost of the clean up operation arising from the bonfires in the Clondalkin LEA for 2012 was approximately €24,000 and approximately €18,250 in 2013.

The number of reports of illegal bonfire wood received by the Council in advance of Halloween in 2012 and 2013 in the Clondalkin LEO were approximately 75 and 73 respectively.

While the Council endeavours to respond to all reports and remove all materials, priority is given to the removal of materials in dangerous locations.
