QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
To ask the Manager to collect the grass and other items at the entrance of St Patrick's Estate on the right hand side wall, close to the name stone to the estate. This grass and other items have been left here over a year?
REPLY:
The material which has been dumped at this location consists of grass clippings, leaves and plant debris and has been accumulating for a considerable length of time. This location is not a composting area and should be not used as such. Arrangements will be made to remove the dumped material on a one off basis on the understanding that it is no longer used for this purpose. To help prevent a re occurrence residents are advised not to collect grass clippings as it creates a disposal issue. Grass clippings should be left in situ where they are able to naturally decompose and return their nutrients to the soil.
