MOTION NO.9
MOTION: Councillor M. Corr
That the Manager implements without delay a systematic cleansing schedule to address litter blackspot areas within Tallaght as opposed to the current response and reaction to cleansing that takes place.
REPORT:
The vast majority of the clean up work carried out by the Council's Public Realm Maintenance Section is done on a planned basis using the schedule management system. All areas of the County, and tasks to be carried out at those locations, have been assigned a required cleaning frequency in the system and this determines the date on which the next clean up will occur at each location. Known litter and dumping blackspots are assigned a high priortiy and frequency in the system, with many such areas cleaned on a weekly basis. These planned clean up events are supplemented by the responses referred to in the motion whereby urgent matters which are notified to the Council by elected members, litter wardens or members of the public are responded to as a matter of urgency and usually within 24 to 48 hours.
