QUESTION NO. 7
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager what is the timeframe for the pedestrian crossing on the Coldcut Road which crosses from the St Bernadette's Schools side to Glenfield. Will this crossing be signal controlled with lights and will there be two sets of lights or one? As the road is very wide at this location will sufficient time be given to ensure people get across the road safely and is it possible to allow extra time at busy crossing times such as school opening and closing times?
REPLY:
Work has commenced. It is intended that the Pedestrian signals will be switched on early in the New Year. The crossing is a full pedestrian crossing and is signal controlled. The road will be crossed in a single movement.
The crossing time will reflect the road width.
The matter of additional time at school periods can be examined when the signals are in operation.
