QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the Manager to clarify why (a) a reduced speed limit is not possible to establish within residential areas and estate in the county and (b) could a Res Assoc, such as Prospect Manor, for example, on behalf of the people living in their estate, request that a reduced speed limit be introduced into their own estate exclusively e.g 30km/h speed limit?"

In accordance with the Guidelines for the Application of Special Speed Limits, a 30km/h speed limit should only be considered on roads/streets where:
In these circumstances the Council have provided for periodic speed limits of 30 km/h at school times in a number of locations across the County, based on the number of school children crossing the roads in question. The default speed limit of 50 Km/h is considered for the normal residential road.
