MOTION: Councillor P. Kearns
That this Committee calls on the Manager to investigate what steps can be taken to ensure that the owners of the Burmah garage take active responsibility for it and maintain it to a standard that does not impact negatively on the local community. As things stand at the moment the two cottages on the site have a signifecent amount of graffiti on them and the gardens are overgrown and full of rubbish
REPORT:
The site of the former Burmah Service Station, Wellington Road, Templeogue was inspected by the Assistant Engineer on 11th September 2013 who has reported that the site is considered to be in a derelict condition within the definition contained in Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990.
A Notice pursuant to Section 8(2) of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990 has been served on the owners advising them of the Council's intention to enter the site on the Derelict Sites register and allowing a period of time for the making of representations by the owners of the site. Any such representations will be considered within the legislation. Failure by the owners to respond in a satisfactory manner will result in the entry of the site on to the Derelict Sites Register pursuant to Section 8 (1) of the Act.
