MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 7

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee reaffirms its support for the development of facilities for sports clubs in public parks in the Lucan area; and requests the Manager to provide a report on both recent discussions with Lucan United FC on their request to erect a fence around a pitch at Airlie Heights; and in response to proposals made by Esker Celtic FC, including in the context of a possible application by the club for sports capital funding; and further requests the Manager to engage with Lucan Harriers Athletic Club and Arthur Griffith Park FC on possible improvement in the area of Griffeen Valley Park where they are located."

REPORT:

A meeting was held with the chairperson of Lucan United FC and Council Officials on 21st November to ascertain the football club's requirements in relation to the club's request to erect a fence around a pitch at Airlie Heights. 

Proposals submitted by Esker Celtic FC are also under consideration. A meeting will be scheduled with Esker Celtic FC shortly in this regard.

Prior to any decision on the proposals currently under consideration, Council Officials will meet with representatives of Lucan Harriers Athletic Club and Arthur Griffith Park FC.
