QUESTION NO. 9
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
"To compliment the Council Staff for their good work in removing bonfire material at the recent Halloween and to ask how many bonfires took place in this LA and the cost to the Council of cleaning up and restoring the ground?"
REPLY:
The Councillor's compliments will be passed on to the staff members involved in the bonfire cleanup in the Lucan Electoral Area (LEA).
There were 300 recorded bonfires countywide in 2013. This represents a 21% reduction in the number of bonfires recorded in 2012 (380). 20 of these bonfires took place in the LEA. The cleanup has been completed in the LEA and the cost of the operation was approximately €5,000.
