MOTION NO.5
MOTION: Councillor M. Devine
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to compliment and enhance the initiative "FIX-MY-STREET" and to consider development of an app for smartphones that allows Tallaght residents report problems directly to the Council"
REPORT:
FixYourStreet.ie is a map-based website for the public to report faults in the public realm to their local authority.
Reports can be submitted in a number of ways - via the website; using the Android App; via email to reports@fixyourstreet.ie or by tweeting with the hashtag #fysie
Reports can be made across 6 categories:
- Graffiti
- Leaks and Drainage
- Litter and Illegal Dumping
- Road or Path Defects
- Street Lighting
- Tree and Grass Maintenance
The service is run by South Dublin County Council and was piloted from August 2011. In the course of 2012 FYS was rolled out nationally to all 34 Local Authorities so that FYS now accepts reports for the entire country.
The Android App is available since go-live August 2011, and the iPhone App is currently under development.
