MOTION NO.1
MOTION: Councillor M. Corr
That the Manager provides a report outlining step by step and also giving a timeline for how bonfire remains were cleared in Brookfield and Jobstown after Halloween.
REPORT:
The remains of all the bonfires which took place in the Brookfield and Jobstown areas have now been cleared by the County Council. The clean up operation started during the week commencing the 7th November in Brookfield, Dromcarra, Kilclare,Suncroft, Sundale, Bawnlea, Whitebrook, Springfield etc.. After Halloween the bonfires are normally left undisturbed for a number of days to enable the GPS mapping operation to take place and to allow the bonfire remains to cool down, so that the material can be transported safety. The bonfires in this area have taken a number of weeks to clear. The operation has been delayed to some extent by the continuing grass cutting programme and the limited availability of the necessary loading equiment. Since the clean up operation has been undertaken, there has been some re-burning of waste at existing bonfire sites and this is being dealt with by the Public Realm Section on an ongoing basis, as required.
