MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee:

• EXPRESSES its thanks to the Community Officers for facilitating the two 'Lucan Community Initiative' public meetings;
• NOTES the clear consensus emerging from both meetings on the need for a new multi-functional community facility for the Lucan area;
• REQUESTS the Manager to finalise the report of the 'Lucan Community Initiative' so that it can be discussed at the January meeting of this Committee; and
• Further Requests that the next Rolling Capital Programme includes a commitment to a new multi-functional community facility for the Lucan area."

REPORT:

The sentiments of appreciation expressed for the work carried out on the Lucan Initiative will be conveyed to the Community Team as requested. A lot of work has been carried out by the Community Team to gather information and to connect with the community in Lucan on the issue of community facilities supply and demand. All of this information is now being collated and it is expected that the report will be prepared and ready for discussion at the January Area Committee Meeting. The Rolling Capital programme was presented to the Members at the OP&F Committee meeting of 21^st November 2013 and the programme will be a matter for consideration by the members in conjunction with the Revenue Budgets for 2014.
