Cathaoirleach's Business

That this Committee call on the Manager to present a report on the current situation with regard to the operation of the fishing facility at Corkagh Park.

REPORT:

The Management Licence for Camac Valley Caravan Park was awarded to BK Golf Management Ltd on 1st April 2013.

The Management Licence for Camac Valley contains the following clause;

Fishery

The Licensee shall if required:

·        Professionally and satisfactorily manage, maintain, operate, provide security and take bookings for the adjacent Corkagh Fishery and associated buildings, coffee shop and barriers on a seven day basis, with sufficient numbers of suitably trained staff and including keeping the lakes adequately stocked with fish;

·        Collect fees from fishery patrons and issue receipts for those fees on the Council's behalf;

·        Deposit the daily fees collected in respect of the fishery in the Council's designated bank account within one week of receipt of same;

·        Actively market and promote the fishery with local, national and international relevant interest and trade groups, bodies and boards; including running and organising angling training courses at the facility;

·        Be responsible for all standards compliance, registration and insurances in respect of the fishery including all and any requirements in respect of employees and public liabilities, including as set out elsewhere in this agreement.

·        The Licensee may sublet all duties and obligations in respect of Corkagh Fishery under this Licence to a third party subject to the agreement and prior written approval of the Council.

 

(Duties in relation to the Fishery may be excluded and subject to a separate tendering process at the discretion of the Council).

 

 BK Golf Management Ltd has been managing the Fishery since April 2013 in line with the above clause and at the requirement of South Dublin County Council.

The tender documents for the Fishery are at final draft stage and it is expected that the tender for the Fishery will be advertised within the coming days.  It is envisaged that the tender will cover management of the fishery for a three year period from 01 Jan 2014 to 31 Dec 2016, subject to annual review.
