MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge

That this Committee requests the number of applications  for (a) Council Houses and (b) private housing and that the total on combined lists be brought to this meeting.

REPORT:

There are currently 7,350 applications for housing on the Council's Housing List.  4 ,103 of these applicants have expressed interest in housing north of the Naas Road.

All applicants on the list are considered for all types of social housing support i.e. traditional Council owned dwellings, Approved Housing Bodies' dwellings, RAS and Leased dwellings.    The latter two options are provided through making use of the private and voluntary sector and entering into contractual arrangements to secure medium to long-term availability of rented accommodation.
