MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

That this Committee asks the Manager to bring forward proposals for a limited roll out of the Traffic Calming Scheme for the Fernhill, Hillsbrook, Muckross, Shelton and Dangan areas, identifying the areas within the agreed Part 8 where traffic calming measures are most required to deliver a low-cost first phase of the plan. 

REPORT:

The current programme for installation of traffic calming schemes has no funding and the entire traffic calming programme needs to be reviewed in this context. Consideration is being given to other measures that assist in mitigating hazard of speeding vehicles in this review. As the Part 8 for the referred to scheme has been in place for some time it is intended to re-examine the area in terms of traffic flow and speed in order to identify priority areas and hopefully implement a limited rollout as suggested consistent within available resources. A detailed report will be made available to the next area committee meeting.
