HEADED ITEM NO.6
HEADED ITEM: P. Department
Proposal for a pathway at Belgard Heights open space
REPLY:
There are two open spaces in Belgard Heights (The View and Meadows East/West) where there is evidence of 'desire lines' across them, i.e. residents are crossing the open spaces in suffcient numbers and with sufficient regularity to wear a path on the ground but there are no actual paved paths provided. Representations, on behalf of local residents, have been received from Elected Members, requesting the provision of proper paved pathways at both locations. Additionally, the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) has been anxious to facilitate proper and safe access to the nearby LUAS stop at Belgard from the adjoining residential areas. Belgard Heights is one of these locations.
In consultation with the RPA, construction of one of these paths at The View has commenced and will be completed shortly and with the assistance of the RPA. It is now proposed to also provide a similar path from Meadows East and West at Belgard Heights when the funding to do so becomes available.
A representative from the RPA will be in attendance at this meeting.
A location map is available at the meeting
