COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, October 21, 2013
HEADED ITEM NO. 11
HEADED ITEM: D. O'Brien
Update on dust at Fettercairn, Tallaght.
REPLY:
The Principal Environmental Health Officer reports that a dust monitoring programme in Fettercairn has been completed. South Dublin County Council sourced an independent environmental laboratory to measure the level of air borne dust in the garden area of the Fettercairn Community Centre. The analytical results were low and are not deemed as actionable as a public health nuisance. An environmental health team also visited a property at 41 Fettercairn Road last week and spoke with a complainant re dust on his motor car. The Roadstone quarry, which is the subject of the dust complaint, is currently going through a process of 'Substitute Registration' with An Bord Pleanála. The Environmental Health Department has completed it's upgraded requirements on dust and vibration controls on Roadstone as part of this registration process and if accepted by An Bord Pleanala will result in improved environmental conditions in the area.
