CATHAOIRLEACH'S BUSINESS

This Committee commends the work on the roundabouts on the Neilstown Road and asks for a report on same

REPORT:

The works that are ongoing to the roundabouts on the Neilstown Road have been designed to provide a good standard of finish with lower maintenance requirements. Three of the roundabouts have recently been landscaped and prepared for planting.  The roundabouts are located at Collinstown Road/Finches, St Marks Avenue/Liscarne Gardens and Collinstown Community School.  Works were delayed somewhat during the year due to the presence of a concrete plinth in the roundabout at Collinstown Road/Finches which had to be removed prior to landscaping.  A fourth roundabout at Greenfort Avenue/St Bernadette's School has also been landscaped and prepared for planting. 

The roundabouts will be planted up with a mix of perennial herbaceous plants, seasonal bulbs and specimen shrubs and this work will be completed in the near future. 

The roundabout at the Neilstown Shops has also been listed for upgrading and preparatory works commenced with the removal of some of the vegetation.  Further upgrading of this roundabout will be considered in the context of the 2014 budget.
