QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

To ask the Manager to outline the process for dealing with pest control in open spaces in the Clondalkin area and who to contact to deal with it?

REPLY:

Pest control issues, for the most part, arise in open spaces as a result of human activity. Specifically, the dumping of litter and waste causes particular problems as vermin are drawn by the availability of food. When notification of a pest problem is received in relation to an open space in the Clondalkin Area, the details are referred to the local Public Realm Depot for investigation.  Following investigation, a course of action is determined. This normally consists of action to remove the litter and waste attracting the vermin and the laying of poison.  The laying of poison is undertaken by the Pest Control Section of the Health Service Executive (HSE) upon receipt of an order from the Council.

Reports of pest problems for open spaces should be referred to the Public Realm Section via the Customer Care Counter either by phone on 4149000 or by email cccounter@SDUBLINCOCO.ie
