MOTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody
"To ask the Manager to confirm the number of unemployed people living in the Rathfarnham ward and also to confirm how many of those people are currently engaged in 'back to work (education)' programmes such as Youthreach, JobsBridge and Community Employment Schemes etc. To ask the Manager in relation to Community Employment Schemes specifically within the County, how much of the Council's budget was allocated to such schemes in 2013, how much has been spent year -to-date and if possible to confirm how many such CES projects there were within the Rathfarnham ward and if possible to identify same. Finally is it proposed that there would be any reduction in the budget for the CES programme for 2014?"
REPORT:
The information requested in the motion re the number unemployed in the Rathfarnham local electoral area has been sought from the Department of Social Protection. The Department's response will be forwarded directly to the councillor upon receipt.
There are currently 5 no. Community Employment Schemes (C.E.S) sponsored by South Dublin County Council one of which includes C.E.S. participants employed in Ballyroan Community Centre and Knocklyon Community Centre.
Expenditure incurred on C.E.S. is recouped from the Department of Social Protection. Expenditure to date in 2013 on CES is €979,644.05 There is no planned reduction in the budget for the CES programme for 2014.
