MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody

"That this Committee requests the Manager to seek to have the walkway between the Edmondstown Road and the Owendoher River that is just south of the Cloragh Mills Apartments opened up to pedestrians.Over the last few years, this area has been cleared and a path laid. Gates have been provided to access the path but for some reason, all access is blocked with signs saying 'unauthorised access prohibited'. If this walkway were to be opened up parents of children attending Edmondstown National School could walk their Children to school. The very narrow path on this road make this dangerous but this new pathway is far safer."

REPORT:

The area referred to is part of the open space being developed as part of the permission for Cloragh Mills apartments.  Whilst the work has progressed significantly it is not yet complete.  It is expected that it will be completed shortly and offered to the Council for Taking in Charge.
