QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny
To ask the Manager can he clarify and give an update on the new contract been awarded in relation to the control of horses in the county?
REPLY:
Following on from changes to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine's funding system for the Control of Horses notified to Local Authorities in July 2013 the regional partners were not in a position to proceed with the tender specification that had been prepared. The documentation has been revised and a request for tender on behalf of the four Dublin local authorities will issue shortly with a longer term contract to be entered into.
The former contract for the Control of Horses expired on 8th August 2013. In the interim, service providers being bidding each month under a competitive process that has enabled the Council to improve value and apply closer control and scrutiny to traceability, practices etc
Cantor Equine Limited are the current service provider under an arrangement due to expire on 8th October 2013. Service Providers have been invited to submit quotations for the next period.
