COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (2)
Monday, September 23, 2013
MOTION NO. 4
MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to arrange for Aesthetically pleasing "WELCOME TO TALLAGHT" signs to be erected at the main arteries entering the County Town that are visibly different in colour and design to other Road signs to ensure visitors to our Town are aware they are entering an area distinctly important to the County and offers a sense of place and Pride to the Citizens of Tallaght"
REPORT:
As part of the Villages Initiative, a strategic approach will be taken to the design and positioning of directional signage in villages and towns in the county. The signage study will include welcome signs to each village, cycle and pedestrian route signage and heritage signage/building plaques. The signage form and content will strive for a design balance between a consistency of approach, reinforcing an overall brand of South Dublin County Council and a creative, individual character arising from the specific quality and heritage of each district village. Tallaght will be included in this strategic study and its subsequent implementation.
