COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)

MOTION NO.13
MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to arrange for the commencement of the procedures to extinguish the Public right of way at Parkwood Avenue which has become an area of severe anti-social and criminal behaviour which An Garda Síochánna are very much aware of and to arrange for appropriate measure to be put in place post the process that ensures access to the general public is not possible with a view to ensuring the quality of lives of residents living nearby gets back to normal after years of intimidation and harassment"
REPORT:
The open space at Parkwood Avenue which links to Old Bawn Terrace has been inspected in conjunction with nearby residents. There appears to be a major problem relating to anti-social activity in this area which could be resolved, subject to funding being available, by the erection of a security fence on the Parkwood side and along the frontage of the open space at Old Bawn Terrace (with a vehicle gate for maintenance and service access). Before any formal procedure for the closure of the right-of-way is initiated, it would be worthwhile consulting local residents in the area on the matter and this can be arranged within the next two/three weeks.
