QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
To ask the Manager what action will be taken to eliminate the ASB at the Clondalkin Skate Park? Would shutting of the gate perhaps resolve the situation?
REPLY:
Clondalkin Skate Park is not considered to have a significant anti social problem. The gate to the skatepark is kept open at all times to facilitate access. This arrangement results from experiences at construction time whereby skaters were accessing the skatepark during construction despite the fact that it was locked and secured by boundary fencing. It was therefore considered safer to keep the skatepark unlocked. This arrangement is working well and littering is the only significant problem that the Council have had to deal with since opening. While there are no current proposals to lock the gate this arrangement is being monitored.
