MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

Mayor's Business

That this Council, welcoming the recent limited Jobs Stimulus programme, calls on the Government to further resource the building of social housing in this county and, for future schemes, to include as a condition the requirement for local people to be employed in the construction of such houses.

If the motion is passed the sentiments of the Members will be conveyed to the Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O'Sullivan TD, and the Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works (with responsibility for Public Procurement), Brian Hayes, TD.
