QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor C. King

To ask the Manager to send a letter of congratulations to all organisers, Volunteers and participants in the recent "Tallafest - Town and Country Fair" which was a huge success by all accounts which brought a sense of Community back into Tallaght Village and reclaimed the space for the Community. This Council further wishes all of those involved the very best of luck in continuing and expanding the Festival in to the future and offers them the continued support of South Dublin County Council?

REPLY:

The Council acknowledges the success of "Tallafest - Town and Country Fair" and was happy to be in a position to support this new initiative by Tallaght Community Council aided by a team of a cross section of local community groups, national organisations, local businesses, dedicated volunteers and South Dublin County Council. The events took place on  6th & 7th July 2013 in Tallaght and Bohernabreena  all of which were very well attended.
The event - a 2 day free family festival celebrating the rich nature, history, arts and culture in Tallaght included a broad range of activities including guided nature walks, scouts demos, a tractor run, hill walks, writers workshop, history lectures, tug of war and a day full of live music on the main stage.

The council hopes that this will be the start of a regular festival and will support in any way we can.

A letter of congratulations will be sent to the organising committee.
