NOTIFICATION OF CASUAL VACANCY ON SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH S.19 OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2001 (CLLR. M. McDONAGH)
REPLY:
Councillor Matthew McDonagh has tendered his resignation from South Dublin County Council with effect from 10th September, 2013.
In accordance with Section 19 (2) of the Local Government Act 2001 it is the duty of the Meetings Administrator to notify the members that as a result of the resignation of Councillor McDonagh a casual vacancy will occur on South Dublin County Council.
Section 19 (3) of the Local Government Act 2001 provides that the casual vacancy shall be filled by the co-option by the local authority of a person to fill the vacancy, subject to such person being nominated by the same registered political party who nominated Councillor McDonagh for co-option, and that such co-option shall be made at the next meeting of the local authority, after the expiration of 14 days from the occurrence of the vacancy, or as soon after the expiration of the 14 days as circumstances permit.
It is intended to list the co-option of a new Member on the Agenda for the Council Meeting to be held on Monday 14th October 2013.
