QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Manager to provide an update on the Wellington-Whitehall cycle scheme, in light of the NTA's expressed difficulties with proposals in the Part 8, and to give a projected timeline for the implementation of the scheme?"

REPLY:

Discussions are ongoing with the NTA in relation to design issues at two key junctions on the route at Templeville and Osprey. South Dublin County Council have submitted proposals to the NTA to resolve the issues that have arisen with regard to the Part8 and are due to meet with the NTA to discuss them in detail next week.

It is still the NTA position that the design must be fully in accordance with the Cycle Manual and this has been further reinforced by the views of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland, who were consulted following the Part 8 process.
