SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 18
MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney
That this Committee expresses its regret that the ongoing issue of litter bins overflowing on a regular basis in and around Clondalkin Village is not being tackled and calls on the Manager to address same in an effort to support the incredible work being carried out by the Clondalkin Tidy Towns volunteers.
REPORT:
The Council would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to members of the public, businesses and the Clondalkin Tidy Towns volunteers which resulted from bins being left unattended in Clondalkin Village in early June.
The servicing of litter bins, cleaning of town and village centres and work associated with community clean ups are given top priority by the public realm maintenance supervisors. Monitoring systems have now been strengthened in order to ensure that this takes place daily as required and this will prevent a re-occurrence of such problems in the future.
The Council fully supports the tremendous efforts of the Tidy Towns Group and wishes them well in the forthcoming competition.
