"That this Council engage with the BIG BIN company to ascertain the feasibility of placing these bins , as a pilot project, within a suitable location in Tallaght Central"
REPORT:
South Dublin County Council ceased its involvement in the waste collection business at the end of March 2011. Services are now provided exclusively by the private sector
The BIGbin is a free-standing, fully sealed bin compactor designed for collecting domestic waste. BIGBin are a waste disposal company operating in petrol forecourts throughout Ireland. The waste compactor units facilitate customers disposing of household waste any day of the week at their convenience.
- Customers purchase a BIG bin ticket from the forecourt shop
- Customers enter the code on the ticket into the keypad located at the front of the BIG bin unit
- Customers then place your waste into the BIG bin drum and the operation is complete.
Staff from South Dublin County Council have met with this company in relation to their compliance with Waste Management Legislation requirements.
As with any private business, the location of services, standards and quality are a matter for the companies involved and must be in compliance with current Planning requirements and Environmental Waste Legislation.
