MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner, Councillor T. Delaney
That this Committee while acknowledging the Managers previous commitment is very concerned regarding pedestrian safety along Monastery Road particularly in the vicinity of Round Tower GAA Club grounds and strongly urge the manager to make a pedestrian crossing and/or traffic calming between the library and Woodford Hill roundabout a priority in the very short term.
REPORT:
The Roads and Traffic Department are now examining the Monastery Road with a view to making improvements for pedestrians between the Village and the Luas following the securing of funding from the NTA. A topographical survey has been carried out and a scheme will be developed soon. As part of the design process we will assess the feasibility of pedestrian crossings along the route including in the vicinity of the GAA. The scheme design must comply with NTA requirements and be approved by them.
