MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody

"That the Manager update this Committee with regard to the possibility of this Council extinguishing its ownership of the land to the rear of houses *address supplied*; you may recall that at the last ACM it was agreed that the Council would determine whether or not there were any impediments to the possible transfer of this land to the residents and if there were no such impediments that this Council would expedite the compulsory registration of the land to facilitate the transfer."

REPORT:

The following report on this matter was noted at last month's meeting of the committee (Motion 12) and a commitment was made to check for service lines on the site in question.

There are no services on the land.  However, the site is a tapering linear fenced densely planted strip with several mature trees.  It is an attractive, visual amenity that benefits both local residents and passersby.  Accordingly, following further examination and second site visit it is considered that it should be retained in the public realm as a local amenity.
