MOTION NO. 14
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager extend the proposed railing at the roadside footpath opposite houses 86-88 Pearse Brother Park. There is a steep decline from the footpath down to the green area in front of the houses which is dangerous."
REPORT:
This project, comprising an energy upgrade and ancilliary works to a 1950s group of two storey apartments (22 apartments and 4 common lobbies) is now at a stage of substantial completion.
The County Architect has reported that railings, to protect the steepest part of the bank opposite no 84 Pearse Brothers Park and the adjacent units, have been installed.
Further work is planned to the sloped area with low cover planting to be incorporated. Additionally, handrails will be provided to the external sets of steps leading from the housing to the road.
It should be noted that the Budget for the works (which have successfully upgraded not just the apartments but the surrounding area) is now exhausted and it is not envisaged that extra funding will become available for any additional / extension of works.
