QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"To ask the Manager to review the street lighting along the pathway at Ballyboden Way and Templeroan with a view to improving same?"

REPLY:

The footpath / cycle track along Ballyboden Way forms part of the roadway and is intended to be lit from the roadway lighting. In the case where substantial vegetation is present the lighting is prevented from its task. Low level lighting is not appropriate for the public road for the purposes of lighting.

The Public Realm Section will list the shrubbery along the pathway on both sides adjacent to Ballyboden Way as part of the Arboricultural Programme which recommences in the autumn. The removal of this vegetation should result in improvement of the public lighting in this area. Once the vegetation has been removed the public lighting will then be reviewed.
