MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That this Committee agrees that every effort should be made to ensure that funding be secured as a matter of urgency for the completion of phase 2 of the Whitechurch Traffic Calming Scheme, from the Taylor's Lane/Grange Road junction to College Road; and considers the failure to do so as a matter of urgency a serious matter concerning the health and safety of children - particularly those attending Whitechurch National School."
REPORT:
The Part 8 for the Whitechurch Road Traffic Calming Scheme was approved in November 2009. Roads Design & Construction has applied for funding annually since then, with partial funding being secured in 2012 for the section of Whitechurch Road north of Taylor's Lane.
A further application for funding for 2013 was made to the NRA under the Low Cost Safety Improvement Works Scheme in respect of Phase Two of the Whitechurch Road Traffic Calming Scheme south of Taylor's Lane which included that part of the road in the vacinity of Whitechurch National School. Funding has not been allocated to date for 2013. Further applications for funding will be made for 2014.
