MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, June 10, 2013

QUESTION NO.4

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

To ask the Manager to make a report detailing what progress, if any, has been made regarding the proposed expansion of the allotments in Friarstown, and has any agreement being reached with the South Dublin Allotments Association regarding future plans for Friarstown, in the context of the proposed expansion?

REPLY:

A report under Section 179 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) on the Part VIII process recommending that the scheme proceed is presented to the Members as a Headed Item at todays meeting.

An application was made by the Council on behalf of the South Dublin Allotments Association to the European Union LEADER programme to undertake an extension and enhancement of the allotment site and the provision of other facilities at Friarstown.  The application has been approved by the Fingal LEADER Partnership Board (Fingal LEADER Partnership has responsibility for projects in Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown) and South Dublin Allotments Association and South Dublin County Council have recently reached agreement on how the project can proceed.

Once the Part VIII process has concluded arrangements can be made to proceed with the project.
