QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
To ask the Manager to state the implications of the Report of the Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee for the organisation of Council meetings, accommodation, elections and other areas, and to make a statement on the matter.
REPLY:
The Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee Report was published on 30th May. It proposes that the number of members in South Dublin County increase from twenty six to forty in line with the terms of reference of the Boundary Committee and that there shall be one member for every 4,830 population. The Committee have also recommended that the number of Local Electoral Areas be increased from five to six. Below is a table outlining the proposed changes:-

Consideration will now be given to a range of issues that flow from the publication of the report such as the organisation of Council meetings, accommodation requirements and so forth. A full report on these matters will be presented to the next Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee meeting.
