MOTION NO.9

MOTION: Councillor M. Devine

That this Council extend an invite to RISE to make a presentation to the members with regards to their mission and input with those affected by alcohol / substance misuse

REPORT:

The RISE (Recovery In a Safe Environment) Foundation is a registered charity founded by the singer Frances Black in 2008 which supports families of those with addictive behaviour (alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or sex addiction).

RISE work towards helping families to free themselves from the heartache of having a loved one with addictive behaviour, and to rediscover relationships lost to addiction.  This includes, educating and training families, helping the family to care for itself, restoring pride and passion in the family and to raising awareness of the impact of addiction on families.

Should the motion be agreed, it is suggested that an invitation issue to "RISE" requesting that they make a presentation to the Arts, Culture, Gaeilge, Education and Libraries Strategic Policy Committee, with the agreement of that Committee, about their organisation and their work.
