MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

"That the Manager provide a report on Tidy Towns activity/engagement in the LEA."

REPORT:

There are 3 Tidy Towns groups currently active in the Lucan electoral area

• Lucan
• Palmerston
• Griffeen

In 2013 all the Tidy Towns in the County have come together to form a network in order to support one another and share learning and experiences. The closing date for the 2013 Tidy Towns application is the 23rd May and all of the groups have entered. Groups are actively involved arranging litter picks,  painting, planting and general maintenance and care of their area. The Tidy Towns groups also liaise with other groups in their area e.g. schools, scouts, guides etc. In general the groups are having a very positive effect on their areas both from an aesthetic and a community point of view.
