QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Manager to give full totals for the community grants applied for and granted in the area under the remit of this Committee, and in the county as a whole, for the past 4 years, and to make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
Community Services Department has received the following number of grant applications and grant aided as follows:-

We also grant aid Summer Project Groups who participate in a Summer Programme during the months of July/ August. A total of 13 projects in the Tallaght Area receive grant aid amounting to approximately €12,000 annually from South Dublin County Council and also avail of activities free of charge to the projects.
Community Services Department operate a Community Grants Scheme within the administrative area of South Dublin County Council and we invite groups/ organisations to apply within the current Grants Scheme. It should be noted we have a restricted budget which we adhere to, so it may not always be viable to grant aid all applicants and it is also dependent on them meeting the criteria.
In addition to the Community Grants Scheme detailed above, there are grants for artistic activities paid to roganisations all acxross the County. Since 2009, €41,200 has been paid over to groups and orgsanisations in the Tallaght area.
