QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

"To ask the Manager if the 8 x 3000e granted by this Council to assist  Tidy Towns can be re-circled for the County Town,  Tallaght. This "money in the bank" will provide more focus and impetus in nurturing a Tidy Towns project within the environs of Tallaght Village."

REPLY:

The Council agreed as part of the part of the budget process to allocate funds for the development of designated villages within the county. Work with Village Based Groups has been on-going and regular reports on the process and the work have been put to the Corporate Policy Group on a monthly basis. In February 2013 the CPG agreed a call for proposals under the Village Funding:-

In the meantime the Tidy Towns elements of the work is progressing at significant pace and in order to support and encourage this work it is proposed to provide match-funding on a county wide basis to each of the Tidy Town Groups under the Village Initiative.

• Lucan
• Rathcoole
• Newcastle
• Palmerston
• Saggart

Tallaght as the County Town will be addressed by a separate programme.
