MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"That this Committee discuss with the aid of a report the status of the laneway bordering houses 2-12 Willbrook Park and 27 & 29 Ballyboden Road."

REPORT:

The lane way to the rear of Willbrook Park was provided as a rear access to the individual houses at Willbrook Park but is currently unused. A public watermain runs through the lane to which the Council requires unimpeded access and accordingly its incorporation into the rear gardens of houses at Willbrook Park would not be feasible.

A proposal has been made by residents to develop the area as a community garden. While the narrow width of the laneway is likely to restrict any such use, the Council is willing to engage with the local community if there is a consensus among residents and a defined proposal as to how the area could be converted into a community space.
